20 years ago Bill and Edith built Tauraa with their own hands to create one of the best hotels in Easter Island

Today it is Edith who manages it. She is a tourism entrepreneur of the Rapa Nui ethnic group, closely linked to Easter Island's heritage and tourism issues for more than three decades.

She has served in the public and private sectors, both on Easter Island and in several countries in Oceania, America and Europe. She is fluent in English, Spanish and Rapa Nui.

The couple builds Tauraa Hotel B&B with their own hands. As owner and manager, Edith oversees the operation in person, interacts directly with passengers, and begins to develop her vision of ethnic tourism. Their goal was the creation of one of the best B&B hotels on Easter Island.

For her trajectory, Edith has been elected as a member of the board of directors of the Easter Island Chamber of Tourism A.G. and of the board of directors of the Ma'u Henua Polynesian Indigenous Community, which since 2016 manages the Rapa Nui National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In recent years she has represented Easter Island in various national and international meetings related to sustainable tourism, indigenous tourism, and Polynesian tourism in places such as New Zealand, Chile, Great Britain, Canada, and Samoa (see some pictures below).

Today, Edith is recognized locally as an opinion leader, taking the local experience outward and bringing back international experiences to share and enrich both indigenous tourism activity and visitor service.
