"This was the fourth time I stayed at Hotel Taura'a and the first time post-COVID. Most importantly, Hotel Taura'a is on the government approved list for staying on Easter Island. Edith and Bill work to insure that you have an excellent time start to finish. They pick you up and drop you off at the airport which is only a mile or so away. Breakfast is available every morning. The hotel is on a quiet side street, and you are within easy walking distance of restaurants, shops, entertainment and banks. Rooms are single or double occupancy and air conditioned. Check directly with the hotel web site to see if there are any special room rates for your desired stay.
You absolutely must have a guide and Park Pass in order to visit any of the island's cultural sites. The hotel can arrange a guide with car for you. The Cultural Center at which you purchase Park Passes is near the hotel.
An unusual aspect of visiting Easter Island is that LATHAM, the only airline flying to the island, has a limited number of flights per week due to work on the one runway. Two weeks ago when I was there, there were only two flights per week from Santiago, Sunday and Monday, but this is expected to change as tourist demand increases.
Easter Island is a semi-tropical island in the Southern Hemisphere, so seasons are reversed compared with the Northern Hemisphere. There is only one reasonable beach on the island and it is at the opposite end of the island from the town, Hanga Roa.
I recommend that you book hotel and flights as far in advance as possible."

"I was in Easter Island with a photography group and became quite ill. It was necessary to go to the hospital. To my surprise the owner of the hotel appeared in the ER late in the evening and sat next to my bedside. She had driven back to town with her young grandson and refused to go home till she could take me. The next day she went out and got prescriptions and checked on me so many times. I felt like a family member.
Later in the trip she had us to here home and cooked a feast( what a special treat that I’m not sure she does often).
The place has simple, homey rooms surrounded by lush gardens. The rooms are clean and the service is beyond personal. Ask for anything and it’s done magically. Shorts I left to dry would disappear and return mysterious dry and folded.
The is good air conditioning, hot showers with a location that can’t be beat. It’s on the Main Street with all the restaurants, supermarkets and shops outside your door. It’s a short walk to the waterfront and even some Moai stairs.
Each morning Edith, one of the owners, cooks you a super fresh and filling breakfast with French press coffee and loads of local fruit.
Have questions about where to go or what to do. The staff knows everyone are happy to help. The owner often offered to take group members to stores for souvenirs or shopping.
Edith loves her job and is always ready to help. This place is highly recommended for its personal service. You will feel like family."

Reviews from our second time guests
Q: How many times have you come to the island, in which years and where have you stayed?
I have been to Rapa Nui twice - in 2019 and 2023. Stayed both times at Taura’a.
Q: What did you like most about your experience at Taura'a Hotel?
Literally everything. It’s far enough away from Atamu Tekena so there’s not much street noise, but still in the heart of town so I could walk to just about anything. Beautiful, well-maintained grounds (thanks Luis!) with historical carvings everywhere that leave no doubt that you are on Rapa Nui and make staying there even more peaceful. Edith, Rube, Karen and Bill go out of their way to make you comfortable and start your day off with delicious breakfast every morning. When I stayed there in 2019 I left feeling I had made new friends. When I stayed in 2023, these friends had become my family.
Q: Would you stay at Taura'a again? If yes, why?
There is no chance I would stay anywhere else but Taura’a. To come back to Rapa Nui and stay somewhere else would be unthinkable. It is my Rapa Nui home. If I cannot stay at Taura’a, I would rather not come at all. Here I am family - anywhere else I’m just another guest.
Q: Would you recommend this hotel to a group of people who would like to visit the island?
Staying at Taura’a is a privilege, not a right as a tourist. For that reason I would absolutely recommend Taura’a - to people who I feel deserve the care and attention that comes with staying here. To anyone that chooses Taura’a, I hope you leave knowing you were truly valued as a guest - like I was.
Q: Do you think the attention of the owners is important? If yes, why?
It’s absolutely important, but I never once felt it was not important to the owners.
Q: Do you have any other comments, questions or concerns?
I know a lot of this sounds personal, but that’s exactly what it is. And that’s a big reason why I came back, and will be back again.
